The eponym of our school – Baron József Eötvös
Baron József Eötvös (1813-1871) was a Hungarian politician and writer, who was also active in various other fields as well and had a significant influence on the development of Hungarian culture and education.
He actively participated in Hungarian reforms and the dissimination of liberal ideas. Throughout his career, he was involved in the work of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His numerous proposals contributed to the renewal of Hungarian cultural life and education. He was known as an excellent
organiser and also contributed to the establishment of several reform institutions.
